What are the benefits of folding bikes? minus plus

Folding electric bikes offer a multitude of benefits for urban commuters and outdoor enthusiasts. Their compact design allows for easy storage and transport, making them ideal for crowded city living or trips with limited space. The Portola’s powerful motor reduces the effort required for commuting and extends the range of your rides. Folding ebikes emit zero emissions and reduce your carbon footprint. Overall, the Portola folding electric bike offers a practical, sustainable, and health-conscious transportation solution in today’s world where conserving space and energy is a priority. To lean more, read our article on the benefits of folding ebikes.

Can you change the classes on the Portola? minus plus

Yes you can! The Portola folding ebike arrives in Class 2 out-of-the-box. You can easily change between a Class 1, 2, or 3 ebike through the handlebar display. This offers various benefits where you may need to limit your speed and capabilities depending on the where you are riding.

Can I test ride a bike? minus plus

We are a direct-to-consumer company both in pricing and strategy. You will generally pay a premium for the ability to test ride through a dealer. However, our bikes have been thoroughly tested by top reviewers such as Electric Bike Review, Electric Bike Report, Cycling Weekly, Clean Technica, Electrek and many others who have published their reviews on YouTube. Additionally, we are now supporting an independent network of owners offering their bikes for demos. Learn more here Locations

No. The variations you see on the site are the only options we have.

Can you ship to _______? minus plus

We only ship within the US and Canada. The contiguous United States is FREE. Hawaii and Alaska is $600. Shipping to Canada is $100. We are not responsible for any additional tariffs charged by your local government which often times applied after importing. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship our bikes directly to Europe. You can use a shipping forwarder like ShopUsa.com to reach your country.

Are the bikes water-proof? minus plus

The bikes are not water-proof, they are water-resistant. While we do not recommend leaving the bikes out in the rain or riding in the rain or other hazardous conditions due to personal safety, the bikes can handle low pressure exposure to water. Do not submerge in water or expose to pressurized air or water. Storing your ebike in the elements could shorten the lifespan of the electric bike.

Had a bit of a slow start because of the hot weather here, but I've been loving riding the Portola around town.

I absolutely love my Portola e-bike. It is so easy to ride and comfortable. I am enjoying riding and exploring farther than I could with my traditional bike.

Lovely looking. Fairly easy to store and unpack (I'm a weakling so a little on the heavy side). Bought two and both need a derailleur tune-up. Skipping all over the place. Videos too large to upload.

Love my e-bike. Assembly was minor, good instructions. I had one question about the derailer guard, a quick call to customer support answered it. The ride is nice, especially after I upgraded my seat post to a shock absorber one. The motor power, range and brakes are excellent. My wife has a different brand of e-trike, I think the quality of my Portola is better. I'm 74, 5'9", the bike works great for me. I haul the bike in a hitch mounted rack on the back of our RV.

Everything about the procuring experience was great. The bike arrived in a reasonable time and the shop I purchased it from built it well for a very reasonable price. They were extremely helpful through the whole process and conveyed a sense of trustworthiness. The bike itself is perfect for me in every aspect and I had test ridden quiet a few. I have yet to use the Youtube video to learn how to fine tune the bike (eg top speed and throttle sensitivity) but I will soon. I have gone on several rides now and all seems to work just how I want. Just need to fine tune to experiment. Presently awaiting the backorder of a rear carry basket I ordered. Then I can use the bike for light errands which is one of the primary reasons I got this particular type of e-bike.

At 5’11’, the handlebars are barely within reach when I sit straight. Installing the handlebars correctly was a challenge and it took days to get it aligned properly. The throttle has never worked, but I don’t care for that anyway. The derailleur guard was very hard to install. Installing the front rack, there was no hardware to move the headlight and I ended up securing it to the basket with zip ties. The control display is so hard to use I just ignore it except for the pedal assist number. Despite all this, I love my Portola. A good first e-bike. I get about 5 hours out of a charge, but I live in super-hilly Pittsburgh.
