The bike arrived in a reasonable time and the shop I purchased it from built it well for a very reasonable price. They were extremely helpful through the whole process and conveyed a sense of trustworthiness. The bike itself is perfect for me in every aspect and I had test ridden quiet a few. I have yet to use the Youtube video to learn how to fine tune the bike (eg top speed and throttle sensitivity) but I will soon. I have gone on several rides now and all seems to work just how I want. Just need to fine tune to experiment. Presently awaiting the backorder of a rear carry basket I ordered. Then I can use the bike for light errands which is one of the primary reasons I got this particular type of e-bike.

Installing the handlebars correctly was a challenge and it took days to get it aligned properly. The throttle has never worked, but I don’t care for that anyway. The derailleur guard was very hard to install. Installing the front rack, there was no hardware to move the headlight and I ended up securing it to the basket with zip ties. The control display is so hard to use I just ignore it except for the pedal assist number. Despite all this, I love my Portola. A good first e-bike. I get about 5 hours out of a charge, but I live in super-hilly Pittsburgh.
